Welcome to the Smart Structures Technology Laboratory (SSTL) at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign! Our group seeks to develop innovative strategies for increasing the safety and reliability of civil structures which are subjected to dynamic hazards such as strong earthquakes and winds. Our research is focused on the areas of structural health monitoring, structural control, and smart sensor technologies. The SSTL was established at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign by Prof. B.F. Spencer, Jr. in 2002.
